Recoil Starter for Motorized Scooter (type 2)

How to start your motorized scooter without breaking the recoil starter at first use:

1) To start the scooter, especially when the engine is cold, pull a few taps on the handle to bring the piston up into its sleeve.

2) Pull sharply on the cord without pulling to the end of it. This will prevent breaking the cord or wresting a part of the recoil starter.

The engine of a motorized scooter rarely starts on the first try. If you pull on the cord when the piston goes down you are likely to reach the position of highest compression when reaching the end of the cord. This is a sure way to break the recoil starter rapidly.
